However, several new hotspots have popped up in recent months. Local haunts include King Street Oyster Bar (with locations in Leesburg and Middleburg), The Conservatory at The Goodstone Inn (Middleburg), The Restaurant at Patowmack Farm (Lovettsville), and Harrimans Piedmont Grill (Middleburg). You can't and frankly shouldn't offer beer for champagne prices.Gourmands will especially love the abundance of farm-to-table fare found throughout Loudoun County. Again, money isn't the issue, but there is alway a basis for comparison. Plenty of other places you can try that have waiters and provide an actual service, and don't charge these prices. In summation: close to $600 later, we went home with our tails between our legs. We also tried the chicken sandwiches, stale and tasteless, the hot dog had a pound of onions on it, the berry and chèvre bowl was basically a bowl of spinach with four berries. To walk 45 seconds to drop off our crackers which they forgot was out of the question. on a $250 tab, which we were more or less forced to pay a $50 tip. The lady had left the crackers on the serving area, since she couldn't bother to bring it to our table. We later, after finishing the dish, found out that they forgot to give us the crackers. The table next to us had the same bottle, and no sediment at all.įood-wise: terrible! The $25 meat and cheese platter has one meat (proscuiotto) which is about 4 slices, some chewy pickles and some olives, and jam. Further, when I bough the most expensive Cab on the menu, which wasn't a cab at all, but a mix, after opening the bottle and one single pour, the bottle had a ton of sediment which again, the "expert" started arguing about instead of just replacing the bottle. When I asked if they had a sweeter wine, he looked at me like I had two heads and stated that all Rose's are dry, which def. What irritated me is that you get no service, the food you have to pick up yourself, you have to clean the table yourself after you're done, including take the trash to the trash cans, and the wine area, selling way over-priced wines (for a Mom & Pop place), the gentleman (Alex), and I use the term loosely, has an attitude. Both wine and food areas automatically charge a 20% tip, which you can cancel, but the machine "froze a bit" during both areas, so I left it alone. They have the wine and food area separated, which is OK I guess. We started doing more of these when Covid came around. Mediocre at best! While I don't consider myself an expert on wineries, I've been to a quite a few over the past couple of years. We’ve not visited Stone Tower since Covid, and after this experience (and learning that only members are now permitted in the beautiful chateau), we’ll likely not be back. However, our visit was already ruined by their own miscommunications and the second pourer’s rushed pourings and attitude. I spoke with the manager, and he comped our tastings. She was clearly trying to get us to leave the serving bar, as she asked us how we’d like to close our bill, despite us already having removed the pizza with which she had serious concerns and us having wine remaining In-N-Out glasses. The new pourer took over our service and rushed us through 2 more pours. My daughter and husband moved to a side table to eat while the remaining two of us finished the tasting. When she brought the pizza back and we began eating it, a different pourer came over and rudely told us we couldn’t eat at the tasting bar. She was clearly told yes by our pourer and given instructions that the restaurant would give her a buzzer and would use it to summon her when the pizza was ready. My daughter asked our pourer if she could order pizza and bring it back to the tasting bar while we finished our tasting. All was going well and the four of us were enjoying our time together and planning to purchase several bottles from the tasting. There’s only one choice (white/rose’/mixes red) at $25 per person. We chose to do the tasting in the tasting barn, since only club memeners are now permitted in the chateau.
